Taking an active role in our neighborhood

The Old Quad is that area* bounded by Scott Blvd on the west, Newhall St. on the south, The SP rails on the east and El Camino Real on the north side. It also includes the area north of El Camino Real to Warburton and west of Lafayette Street to Monroe Street.

If you live in the general area and are interested in a social group of folks who care about the City they live in, please feel free to join us. We want to meet our neighbors and work together on those things that affect our neighborhood and make it the unique area that it is.

The Santa Clara Old Quad Residents’ Association was founded in June of 1979 to improve the physical appearance of the 125-year-old neighborhood. Since then its purpose has been to preserve the substantial historical heritage, host social events that bring about a strong sense of community spirit, and promote a high quality environment for all.

Early goals of the Association included: further restoration and rehabilitation of the neighborhood's older homes and to insure only the highest quality new developments that would be compatible with the existing architecture as well as provide for the areas needs.

As members of the Old Quad Residents’ Association we wish to educate others with regards to the rich and colorful history of our neighborhood, its former residents and outstanding dwellings.

Together we can work toward area-wide improvements, such as quality schools, libraries, parks, street trees, and other worthwhile endeavors.

And last but not least we intend to continue to create a strong sense of neighborhood identity, of belonging, through social gatherings, neighborhood group efforts, and publication of an informative newsletter.

Programs and Activities of The Old Quad Residents’ Association
  • Monitor City Council & Planning Commission actions regarding development plans and proposals for our historic neighborhoods.
  • Work together to achieve community improvement projects such as City street tree plantings, park improvements, and library improvements.
  • Host social events that benefit local charities and build community spirit.

  • Recognize outstanding contributions to our neighborhoods revitalization and preservation.
